This policy explains the browser storage used by Provenance, including cookies, localStorage and sessionStorage. Rejecting optional purposes does not delete your account, lists, favorites or alerts stored on our servers.
What you can choose
Necessary cookies support sign-in, security and requested features. We also remember preferences you explicitly choose, without reusing them for advertising or tracking profiles. Measurement and history-based personalization remain off until you opt into each purpose. We do not use our own advertising cookies.

Change or withdraw permission
Use “Cookie settings” at the foot of every page to change your choice. Withdrawing permission stops new measurement submissions and deletes optional local history; it does not sign you out. Your choice lasts 180 days per browser and is requested again after expiry or a change of purposes. Clearing cookies also clears that choice. Old optional local data without valid consent is removed when you open the site.
Measurements already received remain until their 90-day retention ends. Submissions do not include an account identifier that could locate all of one person’s measurements. Hosting and authentication infrastructure may maintain technical security logs under their privacy information; these are separate from optional browser history.
Signing in with X or Google
The notice you see when visiting X or Google belongs to that provider. Your choice here does not accept or reject theirs. Rejecting their optional cookies should allow authentication; blocking all their cookies in your browser may prevent it. If you deny permission to access your X profile, X sign-in is cancelled. You can use the Google sign-in offered on the login screen.
